The past decade has seen a proliferation in Civic Tech for crowdsourcing, including a vast array of ideation and online deliberation tools.
But amid a flourishing tech landscape, we’ve seen far fewer high-level national institutions that are willing to use or integrate such tools into formal political processes.
Nesta is currently conducting research on how money allocated for the UK’s £3.5bn Restoration and Renewal Program could be put towards improving opportunities for public engagement in our parliament.
Hear preliminary findings from interviews with parliamentary staff, and a range of generalised ‘problem statements’ where crowdsourcing offers the most promise for parliaments; then discuss, critique and split into groups to design practical pilots based around them.
