Diego studied at the Universities of Rome “Sapienza” (BA, MSc), Leiden (MA), Oxford and Siena (PhD). Between 2012 and 2014, he held a Jean Monnet Fellowship at the European University Institute. He is currently an SNF Ambizione Fellow at the University of Lucerne, Switzerland. In his ongoing research project "Personalization of Politics between Television and the Internet" funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation, he is investigating the extent to which political leaders have come to affect voters’ choice as well as the role played by old and new media in driving this development across time. He currently serves as founding convenor of the ECPR Research Network on Voting Advice Applications (VAAs) and as a member of the Scientific Committee of the Italian National Election Study (ITANES).
