Longer description:
When disaster strikes anywhere in the world, the Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team is able to mobilise thousands of volunteers, coming together online and on the ground to create open data that enables disaster responders to reach those in need. Learn how open mapping is mobilising mass community action in disaster response, and how open source technologies like the HOT Tasking Manager are enabling the collective mapping efforts with over 480.1K mappers and 3.4 million buildings mapped to date.
Hear stories on the impact open mapping has had, including mapping in response to the earthquakes in Turkey/Syria and Morocco, and floods in Libya. The Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team is currently working with the Mapping for Climate Ready Cities programme, supporting the development of a thriving ecosystem focused on the creation, interpretation, and use of maps to respond to and reduce climate risks in urban areas across four priority regions.
