In the civic technology ecosystem, creating spaces and pathways for government practitioners and teams to connect and learn from one another is critical as we seek to address ongoing challenges in the design and delivery of government services, attract talent to public service, and retain people with the knowledge, skills, and abilities in government roles.
The Digital Service Network (DSN) is a core program of the Beeck Center for Social Impact and Innovation at Georgetown University. The DSN mission is to empower governments to use human-centred strategies to deliver digital services that meet the needs and expectations of people who use them.
To strengthen connections and foster learning, the DSN founded and runs two primary communities of practices, the Chief Digital Service Officers and User Experience & Research. Both communities create opportunities for government practitioners from every level of government in North America to connect and to enable the crowdsourcing of resources, templates, case studies, and policies that can benefit each community.
The DSN as a whole, and these two communities, provide insights into how to create experiences that enable authentic relationship building and encourage sharing relevant materials related to human-centred approaches for technology development.
Hear real-world lessons about cultivating communities of practice and building out programing and structures that facilitate the sharing of knowledge, artefacts, and ideas. These communities provide spaces that meaningfully inform government practitioners and teams in designing and delivering government services.
