Rhoda is a highly skilled digital development professional with a wealth of experience in research, fundraising, project management, and partnerships across various sectors, including Digital Transformation, Youth Empowerment, Governance, Climate Action, Data, and Digital initiatives.
Ushahidi Inc. is a pioneering not-for-profit data organization dedicated to building open-source software that empowers communities to gather, analyze, and act on data and information swiftly and purposefully. Since its inception in 2008, Ushahidi’s crowdsourcing tools have been deployed over 200,000 times in more than 160 countries, originating from its initial role in monitoring and mapping post-election violence in Kenya.
As the Implementation and Development Manager at Ushahidi Inc., Rhoda plays a pivotal role in driving the successful delivery of projects and programs, establishing strategic partnerships, and spearheading fundraising efforts. Currently, she oversees the implementation of climate action projects in Kenya and Uganda and leads the African Union civic-tech fund initiative aimed at driving impact across Africa. Additionally, Rhoda is at the forefront of Ushahidi’s election program, supporting countries worldwide in election-monitoring initiatives during this pivotal year of global elections.
Before joining Ushahidi Inc., Rhoda held positions at the United Nations World Food Programme’s Digital Transformation Services Unit, where she likely played a role in leveraging technology to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of WFP’s operations. She also worked at the United Nations Human Settlements Programme, where she contributed her expertise to the Youth and Livelihoods Unit and External Relations Division, working on initiatives aimed at empowering youth and promoting sustainable livelihoods in urban and rural areas and building and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders, including governments, non-governmental organizations, donors, and other partners, respectively.
