Through the lens of climate action, we’ll discuss the opportunities and challenges in using civic tech to encourage people to change and coordinate their behaviour in ways that can cause significant changes in society.
Our discussants will talk about how civic tech can enable people to coordinate action so that it’s greater than the sum of its parts. We’ll look at possible solutions to the challenges faced in doing this, and ways that this work could be applied in different contexts.
Discussants will include Jacopo Ottaviani, Chief Data Officer at Code for Africa and Laurence Watson, Head of Technology at Subak.
Drawing on expertise in this area from those working in climate action, we expect this session to be of interest to those working in a wide range of areas – whether you’re already working in or interested in the intersection of civic tech and climate action, or interested in learning about methods and tools you could apply to your work in other contexts.
This surgery aims to identify challenges/ gaps in knowledge in this area and these insights will then be used by the subsequent TICTeC Action Lab on the topic, which will work together to commission work to help tackle common challenges or address these gaps.
