Paul presents case studies showing how citizens and campaigns have been using the Crowdpac platform in the US, the UK and France, with particular emphasis on the French elections (currently ongoing).

How has Open Data, including social network mapping and text processing algorithms, been able to provide objective voter information on politicians' positions? We see how data on the views of millions of citizens can correlate with crowdfunding campaigns and other actions.

Crowdpac’s aim is to reinvigorate democracy and empower citizens through Big Data. This type of usage is shown in the context of, and in contrast to, the Brexit and Trump campaigns' deployment of big data and microtargeted marketing to manipulate citizens.
