Emily Shaw

Emily is a perapatetic ponderer and writer. She has been lucky enough to work with some pretty great people on interesting things. She currently serves as a senior advisor at GovEx. She used to work with mySociety, the Sunlight Foundation, and Global Integrity. Before that, she used her Political Science Ph.D. in a more direct way as a professor at Thomas College. She lives in Maryland with her husband, dog, cat, tortoise, and an 11-year-old son who can beat her at pretty much any card game.

This hands-on session offers participants the opportunity to collaboratively develop connections across the different research and practitioner communities in Civic Tech.

Examining different research practices, exploring the multiple roles that we play, and facilitating discussion, we identify how useful knowledge about Civic Tech can be created, shared, and incorporated into our projects.
